The Greene County Ram baseball team finished the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a 14-4 record and tied for second place with Saydel after a win in Nevada Friday afternoon.
The Rams beat the Nevada Cubs 10-0 in six innings by the 10-run rule.
Senior Riah Nelsen threw his fifth shut out of the season and is 7-1 on the mound. He struck out seven batters, walked three and allowed only three hits.
The Rams had 12 hits for the game, with Nelsen a force batting as well. He hit a triple and a single and had two runs batted in. Colton Fitzpatrick had two singles for three RBIs and Reid Lamoureux had two singles and two RBIs. Daric Whipple had a double and a single and one RBI. Branden Miller brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Chase Stoline, Jordan Hostetler, Jordan Challen and Tyler Beger all had base hits.
The Gilbert Tigers won the HOIAC with a 17-1 record. The Rams are 19-10 overall for the regular season. They open Class 3A district play on July 17 in Carroll vs the Atlantic Trojans at 5 pm.
